Tasting Riverside – 2 Brother’s Pizza

By Jaime Damian |

My favorite time of year is the fall and winter season. If you live in Southern California that just means summer is extended for October. What comes with the change of the seasons is football, hockey and basketball and the World Series. Many other sporting events and little league and the list goes on. Nothing is better than enjoying a sporting event with pizza, friends and family.

Owners Anthony Thomas and Bill Ritt

Nothing exemplifies those memories than with 2 Brother’s Pizza located at 4290 Riverwalk Parkway, Suite 310. The business was formerly known as First Class Pizza. 2 Brother’s Pizza purchased the business from the previous owners and began revitalizing the space. The customer service is great, and 2 Brothers offers traditional pizza pies and constantly have sports on the televisions throughout the day.

Pizza made from SCRATCH!!

Now time to discuss my favorite part this article THE FOOD. Delicious would be an understatement of how to describe how good their food is. The kind of delicious where if the photos can talk then they would tell you everything they need to know.

The pizza is a big change. The style of slice is a New Haven style. Meaning the pizza is a thin slice but has more of a chew. Each bite of the pizza is a symphony of delight. The crunch from the crust and the blending of mozzarella and provolone gives and nice stringy bite and some snap to the cheese. The sauce has a real nice blend as well. Very sweet and savory to make the meal come together like the Avengers in endgame.

Next is the calzone. Very nice crust on the outside but the fillings are to what you want. I am basic and ordered pepperoni. These are always made to order and amazing. The cheese is gooey and stretches more than slime on nickelodeon. Then ricotta cheese inside makes a nice complement to mozzarella. Very herbal and flakey to the feel. The dipping sauce is also great! It contains the right amount of acidity to cut down the heaviness from the cheese and has a nice sweetness to balance the savory from all the ingredients. The sauce is great because a little goes a long way. The crust has a great crunch to it as well. The dough is solid and not too flakey.

SANDWICHES

The sandwiches also deserve the love as much as the pizza. I grabbed an Italian sandwich that came with salami, pepperoni, cheese, peppers, banana peppers and onions and lettuce with oil. All on a French bread baguette that’s oven roasted for a nice crunch. This sandwich comes with Italian dressing and balsamic vinegar. I recommend the balsamic vinegar for the sandwich to give each ingredient a time to shine.

While this business is new, I can tell this business is special to the community it serves. While taking photos I noticed customers coming in and chatting up the workers. You can feel the atmosphere of people not only enjoying the food but enjoying their time at the restaurant. It reminded me of a family dinner where everyone catches up and talks about their week. Just people enjoying their time. Not once did I not see people leave without a smile on their face and excited to dig in. “Restaurants” like this are more than the food to the customers.

2 Brothers Pizza is a place for memories to be had.

2 Brother’s Pizza is open Sunday through Thursday from 11am to 9pm, Friday and Saturday from 11am to 10pm.
